From Optimist IBK desk. "What Are You Waiting For?"

‘But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.’ (Isaiah 40:31) .
Majority of churches are really waiting on God this January, Like GOFAMINT (my church), REDEEM, HOUSE ON THE ROCK, DUNAMIS of which I know of, and much more. But the real question is are the members waiting on GOD.

Waiting on God is hard. When we desperately need an answer to prayer and nothing seems to happen, our trust in God can be tested. However, when we look back at these times, we see how it has increased our faith.
Have you ever been in a situation where you were waiting on the Lord? Maybe it was for healing, a new job, a husband? Maybe you are not waiting for the Lord, but still things are not happening the way you hoped or expected them to.  Sometimes it’s hard to understand why the Lord doesn’t allow things to happen right away. A very important lesson that I am continuing to learn each day is that God works things out in his own perfect timing. We need to trust in the Lord’s timing which may be different than our timing. What if God decides not to answer my prayer? Time is running out. How do I keep trusting when it seems like nothing is changing? It’s hard to wait on God isn’t it?
Whatever the issue you are facing, first bring it to the Lord in prayer. Ask yourself, is it really what he wants you to be hoping for? Does it line with God’s Word? Psalm 37:4 tells us Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart. So many times this verse is taken out of context. Just because you trust in Him, it does not mean He is going to give you everything you want. He wants you to ‘delight’ in Him, to seek Him and to love Him and spend time with Him in prayer and Bible study. If you are seeking after God in this way, the desires you’ll have will be to serve him and to always live according to what the Bible says. You will find that God’s desires become your desires. In other words your desires will line up with God’s. It is important that you trust in God’s word alone. Don’t rely on your feelings, to many time our feelings will betray us. God will work things out in your life if you trust in him. It is possible that you may have to go through certain trials and wait for his answers …One of my favorite verses and that brougt my salvation is (Romans 8:28 say’s ‘And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.)
Sometimes the times in the Bible when people have had to wait on God have been the times when He has been glorified the most. When the most dramatic transformation happened in peoples’ lives. Sometimes the waiting on God enables us to see the greatest miracles. In the Gospels we see this happening to Mary and Martha while they are waiting on Jesus to come and heal their brother, Lazarus. When Jesus finally shows up, He is accused of taking too long. God always has good reasons for making us wait. Waiting is a part of life and one of God’s tools for growing us. The Bible is full of stories of people having to wait on God, such as Noah, Abraham, Moses, Joseph, David, Daniel, Jesus, Paul and countless others.
God has plans for your life. He knows everything about you. He made you. He loves you, as the following selection of verses from Psalm 139 …
‘O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.’ thee hope and promise that God gives us is that one day we will spend eternity with him in Heaven. What an amazing hope this is. This life on earth is temporary, but while we live on earth, we need to seek after God and wait for God’s perfect timing.
Wait on the Lord. Be patient. Trust in God’s perfect timing and he will answer you. Then you will hear him directing you:
‘Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, This is the way; walk in it.’ (Isaiah 30:21)
So in conclusion, we need to be encouraged. Wait patiently on the Lord. Trust in God and He will work things out in your life. God will use you just as you are, if you make yourself available to Him. Talk to God today and ask Him to give you the desires of your heart. God is faithful, trust in Him and His perfect timing. Amen!
